The Running Wish, one in the series of four, begins as Flick and little sister Birdie's dad appears in the kitchen dressed in green from head to toe. Not only is Flick surprised, but so is baby sister Birdie.

There's a good reason for this, together with Flick he is part of the Green team at Flick's school sports day.

Dad tells Fick that the is ready for the parents vs teachers race, because he has been training, but Flick knows that her dad has only been on two runs to train.

Birdie, Flick's little sister will be there too and she is concerned what will happen when the tv crew from the news start filming if Birdie makes a wish. Anything could happen but most of all Flick wants to make sure the race is fair and that no wishes interfere with the action.

The books in this series are ideal for younger children learning to read independently as they discover how The wish Sisters interact with people around them of all ages. The themes tend to be community minded with introducing the use of words in various situations helping to grow their vocabulary in a fun way
