Doesn't everyone need an pesky and cheeky little Imp in their family? Especially one that does crazy things like magically making mini hamburgers appear for breakfast on Sunday instead of pancakes, just as Flick and Birdie, who are the wish sisters have a visitor.

The Pet Wish, one in the series of four, begins on a Sunday morning with Flick's neighbour, Mrs Mortlake using her mum's sewing as she makes the last bandana, a rather cute pink one with strawberries.

Flick's mum doesn't mind helping out when her neighbour's sewing machine breaks down, as it's all for a good cause helping the local seniors club, The Busybodies raise funds in the community.

The usually have pancakes for breakfast on a Sunday but the naughty Imp has other ideas, the mini hamburgers.

Flick and her friends hear there is going to be a pet section at  the community event and she is excited but her mum doesn't want Flick to get a pet, reminding her of all the work involved in owning one as she shares her memories of owning a beagle when she was a little girl.

What they don't know is that there are some special pets waiting to find their fur-ever homes. She assures her parents that she won't bring a pet home but when Imp turns things up a notch, They begin to get wild when Birdie wishes to make the animals even more special in the hope that they will be adopted.

Young readers age 6 - 9 will find out if Flick can keep a rainbow cat and a dancing dog a secret when a pesky photographer is snapping lots of pics? They will also read about relationships across the age groups, dealing with wants and desires and love for pets.

This is a delightful page turner with occasional cute illustrations that is sure to keep 6 - 9 year olds glued to the pages.
