A delightfully happy picture book story for young children appreciating the cultural joys of having a grandmother from both the east and the west.
Young readers see and appreciate how one grandmother makes dumplings while the other makes delicious bread, enjoying both their grandmother's skills and cuisines and traditions.
It also show the kindness each grandmother lavishes on their granddaughter while learning what special qualities each grandmother holds.
The story shows the differences in the ways each grandmother looks, with one grandmother has brown eyes and the other one has blue eyes. Importantly, what shines through is that both grandmothers are kind and love their granddaughter.
Grandmother from the West is a healer and welcomes people into her home, she makes them well again and you can feel how proud her granddaughter is of her. While grandmother from the East also shows her how to be brave, generous and kind.
It is a lovely picture book with sweet, calming coloured illustrations for ages 4 - 6 years.
