Treasure in the Lake

by Jason Pamment
Published by Allen and Unwin
ISBN 9781760526258

The story of Iris who knows all about grand adventure stories, depicted in a beautifully drawn graphic novel. Iris and her best friend Sam get more than they bargained for and way beyond their dreams when they stumble upon a riverbed that is unusually dry. They find a hidden city that's been lost in time and is shrouded by mystery....

It is a fun and sometimes scary, but not in a bad way, read with illustrations that really transport the young reader, I'd say for ages 8 and over, into the story. I can imagine they'll be glued to the pages as they want to find out what's happening and what they will find next.

The author, Jason Pamment says that the story was inspired by the NSW town of Adaminaby in the Snowy Mountains that was forced to make way for the reservoir to service the Snowy Hydroelectric system. Fifty years later there was a severe drought and the old town re-emerged and residents could walk the streets see the remnants of the old buildings and reminisce about where they would play when they were little. That is what captured my imagination"

Recommended for everyday reading or as a gift for children who love adventure stories..

This is Jason Payments debut graphic novel, he lives in Adelaide, South Australia with his family.
