Dear Greta

An interesting story told through the life of young Alice and her sometimes friendly school friends. When the class get their assignment from their teacher, Mrs Malouf to write to their hero the story opens up into a series of "letters" via email.

The heroes are not  the students real life heroes, they are someone that Mrs Malouf has chosen for each student. When Alice finds out that she's got to write to Greta, yes the Greta she's not sure about this choice.

If Alice had been able to choose a hero she would have chosen someone like Beyonce, as given to another girl, a shy and girl, in her class.  What this story shows is that we don't always get to choose what we would like and when needing to delve a little deeper and do some "research" on the internet it makes Alice a little more resourceful and loves talking about this with her friends and her annoying desk partner.

This isn't the only thing that Alice has to do. She is very busy with a full schedule. Besides all her activities, homework and schoolwork, she is also helping organise Harmony Day.  Things don't always go as planned...  Alice has another name for the day which I won't reveal and spoil for readers. To add to this, she has an older and annoying sister but can she ever live up to her sister's achievements?

It is a fun and interesting story to read and it's noted that the characters in the story mostly have names, reflecting  Sydney's diverse population.

The story and plot is a delight and not quite what we thought it would be when seeing the title. Pick up a copy from any of these good bookshops, click on the link and it will be delivered to you.
