Who's The Gang On Our Street?

The first few pages of this cheerfully illustrated picture book begins with a general chat around the local neighbourhood finding out who likes doing what such as dancing, playing in a rock group, what type of hair they have, if they play soccer and more.

While it is interesting getting to know the neighbours in the street,  the question still begs, who's the gang in our street?

It turns out the gang, is not the children, nor the parents or any humans.

The gang are the birds, specifically the sulphur crested cockatoos. I am surrounded by them every day and particularly early mornings making this story easy to love. Yes, some people think they make a dreadful racket with their squawwwk, not me, its their communication.

As much as I love seeing them the information about the sulphur crested cockatoos in this picture book is very interesting. Together with general  information to help younger readers learn more about them, there's also a quiz.

While this book is ideal for learning about one of our native birds, it is also educational and helps with improving comprehension.

At first I didn't think there would be much to say about this colourful 32 page book, but really it will make a great gift for curious kids who love birds and about their friends

Highly recommended.
