First impressions of this beautifully and calmly illustrated picture book tells the story of a cute dog, Cuddles who likes things just the way they are.
He really doesn't need to go anywhere and loves being inside with his family, similar to a younger child who prefer to be wit the people they know and their family. Especially for children who don't want to venture out into unfamiliar surroundings,
Cuddles likes to sit on the sofa with one of the family, but also loves to sit by the window look at what's going on outside. But he'd rather not go outside himself. in winter, he is perfectly nappy to stay nice and warm by the fireside and in summer when it's hot, quite happy enjoying the breeze of a fan, but not interested in venturing outside into the breeze.
You get the impression he is missing out on adventures and discovering new surroundings, other dogs and people. Until one day he discovers the family is going out and so is he, but he thinks he is going to doggie day care.
Cuddles soon discovers he is not going to daycare, the whole family are going on a holiday. It's quite a long drive to get to there and he isn't too happy with is doggie seat. Cuddles is also wondering what this place will be like. He soon discover that it is very different from home. How does he cope?
Told to stay outside, at first Cuddles is bewildered but he soon makes friends with the others, the farm dogs and the sheep. A whole new world opens up and yes, they have loads of fun. The holiday goes by quickly but he has had a wonderful time and had new adventures he didn't know existed.
Frankly, it is another this picture book is a story winner by the talented author Pip Harry, to encourage younger children to move out of their comfort zone and see what else is there and to discover all the adventures and importantly, have fun!
