Summer of Shipwrecks

This is a funny novel about a time of change and friendships.

It is well written and humorous and could encourage readers 10+ who are not keen on reading to pick up this book.

There are aspects of the story that many will find that can easily identify with at this stage of development and growing up

We begin reading about a shipwreck and the possibility of finding buried treasure. It has been a year of change, not one that Sid wanted, she could have done without all of this turmoil in her life, but at least she has the summer holidays to look forward to and be to all seeing her friend Lou. She really needs her friend and some normality now.

They are several hours late getting to the camp which everyone is finding rather annoying. It does give Sid time to contemplate and dream of being with her best friend Lou for two whole weeks.  The plans is to  continue searching the wrecks for rich treasure from that shipwreck that happened over a hundred years ago.

Like many well laid out plans, there is a hitch, or it could be because Sid's new school friend Haley has joined the family for the holiday.  This is the hitch, Haley isn't interested in looking for treasure. She has different interests, she has other things on her mind, she is more interested in boys. It is interesting to read to how they cope and what happens in the relationships, not only with the school friends but also with Sid's parental situation.

This is an easy to read fun novel dealing with several aspects growing up, but the correct use of grammar is not its strong point.
