It is a lot of fun reading Heist. The writing is playful and appealing and it is difficult not to smile reading the prologue introducing the gist of the story and the description of what this caper is as opposed to the capers we eat. The Great Chocolate Caper is the first in a series of three books.
Wondering why it's called a heist? That is because the squad as they call themselves, are really a hot-headed lot who hate each other, but they have discover they have one thing in common.
They adore, no they love. chocolate!
As luck would have it, one day they discover rather misguided, sinister and chocolatey plot and it in their school, deep in the bowels of their high school. They have to find a fix for these goings on because this plot will threaten the entire human race. What the say is will be a total annihilation.
The main concern is, if can they work together on this mission and forget about their gripes and differences between them.
It is a clever story, very well written for middle grade, there is good banter between the characters, fabulous desciptive writing and as mentioned earlier, fun to read.
