Atomic Habits

by James Clear
Published by Penguin UK
ISBN 978184794183

When you think Atomic in the title name, what would this mean to you?  Atomic Habits is probably not what you think it is.

It is an inspiring reference book that could easily be read several times whenever needing a refresher to help remind ourselves how to develop good habits.  As the author implies developing good habits will help us to become more accomplished in whatever field we have chosen. While you can read this book, cover-to-cover as I have done, it can easily be read in stages or in chapters.

If you are looking for quick ideas on how to develop good habits or perhaps drop ones that are not working for you, scroll through to the end of each chapter for a summary.

James Clear developed his methodical way of cultivating good habits early. He had a shockingly bad sporting accident on the playing field that left him in a serious medical state for a considerable time, it was feared he may not recover.

Once he awoke and realised the extent of his injuries he drew on his inner resources and with medical help and the support of a loving family, to make a full recovery. When reading what happened to James Clear, it is startling to imagine this situation, but it also reminds me of a great man Morris Goodman who overcame all odds to walk out of hospital nine months after breaking almost everyone bone after an aircraft accident when he was told he would never walk again.

I found reading the information is clear and succinct and the advice helpful,. It is useful for all ages, for anyone who wants to make changes and become more successful in their endeavours . If you could get your mid-older teen to read this book they are sure to pick up some useful and helpful ideas and start seeing the results they would like from an early stage.

It offers useful information on how to make these changes, with good habit stacking and achieving the Goldilocks Zone. with  many examples and scenarios. Read inspiring stories from Gold Medal Olympians, leading CEOs and distinguished scientists.

His simple life hacks become life altering and he cites some amazing examples as he delves into cutting edge psychology and neuroscience.  Some of the information is repetitive. As a former elite athlete James Clear's examples often focus on fitness and overcoming weight issues, but they should be read as examples, not solely in relation to these topics.
