Money Magnet

By Steve McNight

Published John Wiley & Sons Australia

ISBN 9780730383802

Steve McKnight, Bachelor of Business (Accounting) is a former qualified Chartered Accountant and current owner of a portfolio, of one hundred and thirty positive cash-flow investment properties, excluding other investments. These investments has allowed the author to have financial freedom, not needing to rely on work or a job to earn an income.

Money Magnet appears to be a textbook for financial literacy. Various questions, graphs and tables are provided which explain how to map out your own current financial situation. He also comments on the current financial landscape around us.

Written in a conversational format to book is easy to read. The many graphs and tables include figures as part of exercises for readers to understand their financial situation and to get a better grasp of their own financial situation. To help undertake the calculations QR codes are included for readers to download and print specific templates.

After following his direction and establishing the status of your financial health, Steve McNight dives into the various methods people use to make and/or spend money, and details the pitfalls of debt, including home ownership using long term mortgage strategies.

Following these informative exercises he discusses the two main strategies that people currently follow. The pathway to poverty and the pathway to prosperity. He continues by describing his life now and how he uses his money, which is income from investments, to better the lives of the less fortunate. I applaud his work and his generous spirit since he became financially self-sufficient and, I wish I had read this book when I first started working... but unfortunately it didn't exist at the time.

Reading this book and the emphasis he places on his methods which requires a great deal of time to accumulate prosperity, This book is more for younger people, who have the length of time to act upon his recommendations.

He says that his strategies would only suit people who have not yet reached their mid-50s. Otherwise they would find they have not enough working (earning) years to start implementing his suggestions for any noticeable results.

However, if you are beyond the mid-50 age range, there are a few nuggets you can pull out of this book.Although it's mainly geared to younger people under 50, I would still recommend reading book because there are some hints and tips to help everyone.

All the royalties from writing a best-seller called "0 to 130 Properties in 3.5 Years" and other books, including this one, are paid directly into his Charitable Foundation. Amongst other interests, Steve McNight and his team are currently engaged in planting native trees in Victoria. His target was to plant 300,000 trees which they exceeded.
