This colourful, easy to follow fun cookbook for kids is ideal to get them interested in helping to prepare treats for Christmas.
We really love that it is spiral bound allowing the cookbook to open flat, making it easier to use. In the picture you see an orange binding that is an extra cover over the spiral binding.
First, there is a place to add your child's name to the book and then are several important tips to follow such as safety, allergens, hygiene, messy and a Christmassy tip.
As the pages are glossy and thick so the pages won't tear easily and spills can be wiped down. Instead of the usual contents page, there is a list of things that you will make.
Getting started, dive into the theme that Verandah Santa is coming and learn how to make Santa Hats using strawberries and chocolate with marshmallow hats. The steps are clearly provided and tell readers, oops - young cooks when they will need an adult to help, such as melting the chocolate.
Each recipe comes with a difficulty rating and how many items or servings it makes. Some of the recipes are lovely fruit mince pies and gingerbread biccies, chocolate pony poo, muffins that are mixed in a jar and for the morning on Christmas Day there's a receipt for Bartlebee Toast.Plus several versions of pikelets, including Christmas face and reindeer ones. Pikelets are my favourite, they are so easy to make from scratch. And there's pavlova, Christmas lunch, including a starter, the roast, potato salad and a yummy trifle and there's help for decorating biscuits..
Even though Bluey is for younger children, this cookbook is suitable for older ones too, so all age groups can all join in.
This a book to buy ahead of time so kids can plan what they want to make leading up to Christmas. It would make a terrific gift for the holidays.
