A refreshingly told story about Isabelle who is the only Isabelle in her grade one class at school which she likes because there are three kids named Harry, three Olivias and an Olive, two Noahs - one big and one small, two Charlies - a boy and a girl.

Every week the school announces a Star of the Week and Isabelle does all she can to try and win the award She's well behaved, good at what he does but still no award is forthcoming.

The Easter holidays come and go and on returning to school she is suddenly faced with another girl with the same name, except the new girl spells her name differently. She is Isobel.

Then Isabelle discovers that Isobel has two middle names and she does not have a middle name, let alone two!

There are four stories in this lovely book for children aged 6 - 8.

One includes Isabelle's encounter with teenagers when after shopping for her the requirement for her birthday party with her dad and baby cousin Bibi they decide to catch the train back home because they have so many parcels.

Accidentally dad is left standing on the platform while  6 year old Isabelle and baby Bibi who in a push chair are on the train. At first Isabelle doesn't know what to think, she can't recall if dad said they are three stops away from home or not and then her baby cousin starts to cry  She gets off at the third stop and luckily sees two girls - teenagers she knows; They are Isobel's older sisters who are on their way to watch a football match. The teenage sisters are kind and thoughtful and help Isabelle re-unite with her worried dad.

There are some other adventures in each of the four stories.  Through the gently told stories it also includes introducing interactions with others, trust and how to react when they think mistakenly think someone has taken a treasured gift. The sweet black and white pencil drawings perfectly compliment the thoughtfully written stories.

In summary, The Isabelle Stories is a refreshing little page turner that would be delightful for younger readers aged 6 - 8
