For readers aged 15+ who like magical fantasy stories they are sure to enjoy reading Susan Arkenshaw's quest to find her father.

As the story unfolds, she finds extended family of magical fighting booksellers who police the mythical Old World of England when it intrudes onto the modern world. Set in 1983, Susan Arkshaw goes looking for her father who she has never met.

She meets Frank Thringley, a crime boss who thinks he may be able to help but Susan doesn't get time to ask Frank any questions before he is turned to dust by the prick of a silver hatpin in the hands of the outrageously attractive left handed bookseller, Merlin.

Merlin, is also on a quest. He wants to find the Old World entity who used ordinary criminals to kill his mother. Merlin, his sister and the right-handed bookseller Vivien, stumble into the path of a botched or, it is a covered-up police investigation from years ago. Curiously this coincidentally overlaps with Susan's quest. Find out what happens (no spoilers here), as the Old World erupts dangerously into the new.

Well known for his award-winning young adult fantasy novels, the author, Garth Nix's books include Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen; the dystopian novel Shade’s Children; the space opera A Confusion of Princes; and a Regency romance with magic, Newt’s Emerald.

His fantasy novels for children include The Ragwitch; the six books of The Seventh Tower sequence; The Keys to the Kingdom series; and the Troubletwisters series and Spirit Animals: Blood Ties (co-written with Sean Williams).
