Although billed as a work of fiction, it appears that this story is based on the life of Australian actor Ada Nicodemou who plays Leah Patterson in Home and Away.
Mia lives above a shop called Costa's which we discover is named after her grandfather and is a family run business. Sometimes when she comes home from school, Mia is asked to help out. However, it's not always helpful, more calamitous when her dad slips up no the eggplants that toppled from the scales a Mia was trying to weigh them for a customer.
Fortunately, they all see the funny side and burst out laughing. But Mia doesn't want to work in the grocery shop, she loves acting and dancing and has her sites set on being a megastar.
The story is lively, has funny moments and really a story about her and her family who cal each other by Greek names which Mia translates for readers, Tinged with cute illustrations throughout the book it is an ideal fun loving book for ages 8+.
