While there are many colourful and beautifully illustrated books written about animals for younger readers in this 7 - 11 year age group, Extreme Animal Facts is different. It is unique as it informs readers of the most extreme facts about animals and sea creatures. It could make a wonderful present as kids discover more about the world's animals.
Quite a few are really surprising and young curious minds are likely to be amazed to find that jelly fish can live forever or which animal has the best sense of smell.
Although as someone who has a rather keen sense of smell, I might challenge that - it's not always a good thing!
We really like the succinct explanations, written in language that is easy to read and understand with words that are most likely to increase the child's vocabulary, it is handy to have the glossary to refer to when coming across a new word.
Beautifully illustrated by the author who is also the illustrator, an award winning author-illustrator, find out who has the best eyesight? Is is a bird or an animal and which one? Which one is the fastest moving and the slowest - the answers may surprise you. Or what about which bird can fly the longest continuous flight and which one has the longest wingbeat or wingspan.
A highly recommended book.
