This story of a vampire and cousin Catastrophe is funny, entertaining and nothing like the vampires you would normally imagine, It's for children and early teens who love a good and at times hilarious adventure.

It's well written, carefully thought out and one of those books that you want to keep turning the pages and get to the next part of the story. A real page turner!

What's not to like about a friendly and polite vampire who cooks a mean tofu bolognaise and the people in the plot are hundreds of years old?

Solomon is upset, or rather amazed that his parents have gone on a one hundred year cruise holiday. His indignant, after all isn't a ten year holiday enough? How will he cope?

There are wonderfully imaginative moments, such as when Solomon's friends, Thyme, Maude, Claudette and Elvis have plans for Uncle Dracula. Solomons begs his friends to leave his uncle alone, but do they?

Although not a young child's picture book, there are a few black and white illustrations that are an upbeat version of what you'd expect with anything to do with vampires, all good fun.

Readers are sure to enjoy the travels of mama and papa Macaroni as they go the Galagapoose Islands (yes, you read that correctly) but poor Solomon is glad his parents can't see him scowling. Ever since he learned about the animals and sea life on the Galapagos Islands he's wanted to go there. So why isn't he going as well? There's so much more, find out about uncle Dracula's parents who went away so that they could concentrate on inventing soap...

This is a delightful imaginative and wonderfully written book for older kids and young teens. You can pre-order Solomon Macaroni and Cousin Catastrophe from any of these booksellers, it will be out early July.
