A delightful picture book, the story of growing up with a connection to nature and family.

Milly's story begins as she and her father plant a sapling mulberry tree in their garden. She tends the tree and watches it grow, as she grows.

As the tree grows she discovers the delicious fruit of the tree, she likes the colours it makes and the taste so much that she makes her own potion with the fruit.

As Milly is growing each year her family and her celebrate her birthday under the canopy of this growing mulberry tree. Milly watches her mulberry tree as she feeds her pet silkworms with the leaves and when the silkworms spin their silk into cocoons. When the moths hatch and fly away, she loves to feel the beautiful soft silk of the cocoons and tells her moths she will never forget them.

Once she has grown into adulthood, Milly leaves the family home to and explore the world, but she misses her mulberry tree. Living in a far off land, she discovers the beautiful silk that silk worms make and she longs to return home to the mulberry tree and her family.  Eventually she does return and marries under the mulberry tree.

This is a beautifully told story for young readers about connection with nature and family. The illustrations are a delight and there is plenty for young ones to look at while reading the story,.
