A sweet story about a mermaid, Pearl who lives in Cockleshell Cove as she is about to celebrate her ninth birthday, sea-national day, with her best friends. Pear takes a shortcut that is she isn't supposed to do and she sees a shooting star falling into the sea. That's when her adventures begin and things change. She soon discovers why she isn't supposed to be on the reef!

Luckily Pearl and her friends are saved, perhaps a good lesson as to why you're not supposed to do some things.

Pearl's friend can't wait for her to open her birthday present, she knows it will be a big surprise. Once she does that's when the fun begins and of course when they return back to her home for the party. Pearl learns from the sea dragon why she is thrashing about so much and it's not because she's angry. When Pearl helps her out and wants to return the favour Pearl realises that sea dragons aren't so bad after all.



In summary a good story to inspire the imagination with cute illustrations for 6 - 9 year olds. Plus there is a sequel to the story coming up later in the year.
