This is a cute story about a dog who is lonely at home all day long, as human family go out to work and are at school during the day.  Until one day he discovers that someone has left the gate open. Oh what a delight for Chico, it's not longer just hearing his friends who live in his street and peaks through the fencing, he can go and meet them!

That's when he finds out that his friends who are all different breeds are all good at something, but not the all the same thing. Some are good at rounding up, others are great sprinters, one always looks groomed and fabulous, one is super strong, while another loves hiking.

The illustrations really do convey the message that they all have different strengths and aptitudes and when they are together can form great friendships and be a formidable force. If only humans could see this too.

It is a lovely story to impart this knowledge to younger children and to help them recognise their own strengths and how they can develop others.
